Jean Anderson Eloy, MD, FACS

Jean Anderson Eloy, MD, FACS, is a Distinguished Professor and Vice Chair of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, where he also serves as Director of Rhinology and Sinus Surgery, Director of Otolaryngology Research, and Co-Director of the Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Program. He holds joint appointments as Distinguished Professor of Neurological Surgery and Distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He is also Chair and Chief of Service of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, and Co-President of the New Jersey Academy of Otolaryngology/New Jersey Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery.

His clinical expertise spans refractory rhinosinusitis, endoscopic management of sinonasal neoplasia, cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, ventral skull base lesions, and computer-aided sinus surgery. A prolific researcher, Dr. Eloy has authored over 460 peer-reviewed articles, 6 books, and 43 book chapters, and has delivered over 750 scientific presentations worldwide. He founded the only Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery fellowship program in New Jersey. In 2016, he became the youngest-ever recipient of the prestigious Edward J. Ill Physician’s Award in New Jersey. Dr. Eloy earned his MD from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2002.

Andres Pinto is Chair and Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, where he also serves as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies. He holds secondary appointments in the Departments of Medicine and Otolaryngology at the School of Medicine.

With over 26 years of academic, clinical, and administrative experience, Dr. Pinto’s clinical focus includes management of oral mucosal disease, oral oncology, orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders, and pediatric oral medicine. He earned his DMD, MPH, MS in Clinical Epidemiology, and certificates in Oral Medicine and Clinical Research from the University of Pennsylvania, and later completed an MBA in Healthcare Administration.

A past president of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM), Dr. Pinto played a key role in securing ADA recognition of oral medicine as a dental specialty. He has been an active AAOM member for over two decades and has received multiple awards for his service to the field, including the Herschfus Award.

Rafael Benoliel, BDS

Rafael Benoliel, BDS, is director of the Center for Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders and associate dean for research at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He previously served as a faculty member at The Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Dental Medicine, where he was appointed chair of the Department of Oral Medicine, and also served as a research associate at the Unit of Neuronal Gene Expression at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research.

Dr. Benoliel has published extensively on orofacial pain, lectures at national and international meetings, serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals, and has contributed to major scientific committees — including the Classification Committees of the International Headache Society and the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders.

His research focuses on orofacial pain, headache, neuropathic pain, and the trigeminal nerve, and his work has garnered over 16,500 citations.

Dr. Heir is a Past-President and a Diplomate of the American Academy (AAOP) and the American Board of Orofacial Pain (ABOP), Past President and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial, and a Fellow of the American and International College of Dentists. He is currently president of the International Academy of Orofacial Pain (IAOFP).
Dr. Heir is Professor and Director of the Post Graduate Advanced Education and Masters Programs as well as Clinical Director of the Center for Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain. Additional academic appointments include Professor in Orofacial Pain at Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Dentistry, New Orleans, Louisiana and at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rochester, New York. He remains a member of the ABOP Board of Directors and Chair of its Written Examination Council. He was an integral member of the committee that fostered the specialty of orofacial pain, and as President of the ABOP was the signatory of the application to the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards which formally recognized the ABOP as the official certifying Board for Orofacial Pain. Dr. Heir is the editor of the Orofacial Pain Neuro Science Section of The Journal of The American Dental Association. He served as a Commissioner on the Dental Accreditation (CODA) Review Committee and continues as a Site-Inspector for the Commission. He is a past member of the Review Committee of Advanced Dental Education for the ADA Council on Dental Education and Licensure (CDEL). He served as the editor of the Orofacial Pain Fact Sheets for the International Association for the Study of Pain, as well as on the editorial boards of many peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of many professional organizations devoted to the study and diagnosis of pain disorders, has published papers, chapters and abstracts on topics related to the field of temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain. Dr. Heir was appointed to the New Jersey Governors Council for Lyme Disease and served for twelve years in that position, and one term as its vice chair. He is the primary author of the nationally accepted Post Graduate Core Curriculum in Orofacial Pain.

Gilles Lavigne is a specialist in oral medicine (Georgetown U, Washington, DC) and he is internationally recognized for his research on sleep bruxism, sleep apnea and pain & sleep interactions.  His MSc in neurosciences was done at the Université de Montréal under the supervision of professor JP Lund and his PhD at the University of Toronto under the supervision of professor B Sessle. He was professor and dean of the Faculty of dental medicine, University de

Montreal from where he retired in 2024.

 In 2008, he received an honoris causa (University of Zurich, Switzerland) and in 2019 the Order of Canada.  He was president of the Canadian Sleep Society and Canadian Pain Society, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Pain, Sleep & Trauma (2007-2021). He has authored over 300 peer review papers and co-edited 4 books. Currently he is full professor at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences, McGill University with a joint appointment at the Montreal Neurological Institute.

Dr. Johnson is a highly skilled neurosurgeon known for his patient-centered approach to treating brain tumors, spine conditions, and cranial nerve disorders. He tailors each treatment plan to the individual, leveraging expertise that spans incisionless radiosurgery, minimally invasive techniques, and traditional open surgical approaches.

Dr. Johnson graduated summa cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors from the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees in neuroscience. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in stereotactic neurosurgery under the mentorship of Dr. L. Dade Lunsford, a world-renowned pioneer in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery. Additionally, he trained under Dr. Raymond Sekula, a leading expert in microvascular decompression surgery, a groundbreaking technique developed by Dr. Peter Jannetta.

Shaun O’Connor

Shaun O’Connor is a Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT, DPT, CCTT) and the owner of Catamount Physical Therapy in South Burlington, Vermont. He holds degrees from the University of Vermont and completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy through Evidence in Motion.

Dr. O’Connor is a Diplomate of the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial and Cervical Therapeutics and is among a small group of board-certified cervical and temporomandibular therapists in the U.S. His clinical focus includes treating temporomandibular disorders (TMD), headaches, cervical spine conditions, and orofacial pain. He also lectures for physical therapy programs and presents at professional conferences.
